The Village Movement
GRNN is aligned with the Village Model. Villages are a 21st century approach to support aging well in the community.
While Villages differ from each other from one community to the next, they typically share many characteristics. For example, they:
- Operate as a network of neighbors helping neighbors
- Foster connection among people as they age in place
- Are driven by members who both benefit from, and contribute to, the Village
- Are volunteer-supported and embedded as part of the larger fabric of their community
The Village Movement was founded in the United States. Most Villages operate as non-profit organizations. Others are programs or initiatives within other organizations.
The Village to Village Network is the national association for the Village Movement. It provides resources for communities to create new Villages and supports existing Villages.
